Tomatoes in a basil sauce

heirloom tomatoes of various colors

Hello everyone,

… Think heirloom tomatoes cut crosswise into curvy, multicolored wheels sprinkled with green basil sauce with a hint of garlic and good quality white vinegar, scattered here and there with baby basil leaves. Heavenly flavorful yet simple and elegant tomato salad recipe that is a must try.

Did you notice how hot summer days got replaced by rainy days?  Do your kids bring you yellow leaves instead of puffy dandelions while being outside? Fall is already here and even if there are some out there who stubbornly do not admit this, the fact remains 😉

I love autumn with all my heart but somehow I feel so sad to say goodbye to the summer. If you are in the same boat with me, let’s celebrate summer’s last days by magnificent seasonal summer recipes, we still have time.

When I recall my childhood summer memories, huge pots filled with fresh, earthy-scented tomatoes of different colors and shapes come to my mind. My parents used to have the vegetable garden and we ate fresh tomatoes all summer long. My family used a simple approach dealing with them, we would eat them just the way they are, cut into quarters and sprinkled with salt. Sometimes we would make a salad or add them to summer frittata. My favorite tasting experience was to enjoy them (unwashed) from the vegetable patch.

When you have a chance to pick a fresh, still warm from the daylight sun tomato, that still has the heavenly mouthwatering scent of tomato stem and make a bite into juicy, sweet, delicious flesh your taste buds will burst in your mouth and that would become the best tomato experience in your life. If you never tried tomato this way, find a chance. Life is short. If you try tomato this way let me know about your culinary adventure, meanwhile, try the current recipe of tomatoes in basil sauce and don’t forget to comment either.

Unfortunately, we do not always have access to the vegetable patch, which turns into an opportunity for a culinary adventure.

So, step one: find the best quality tomatoes possible at the farmer’s market you trust or the high-quality supermarket.

Step two: Highlight the natural taste of the tomato with the Basil sauce that will make tomato shine on the pedestal of gold.

Step three: Enjoy farewell summer party with its VIP guests – tomatoes!

Are you still here? I am not, getting ready to grab my heirloom tomatoes and basil from the nearby market to get a scrumptious dinner ready for tonight.

After eating this incredible meal, you will become a pinch happier, I promise!

Bon Appétit!
