Real Lenten Chocolate Cake

4th of July Lenten Dessert table. Plenty of fruits. Some Lenten muffins. We might get upset at the idea that we do not have a real piece of dessert. I want some chocolate. No, I’m sorry, I want lots of chocolate! Not during Lent of course…OR?

A Real Lenten Chocolate Cake is a fabulous chocolate sponge cake coated generously and extra generously with avocado chocolate mousse, which we use as frosting to intensify a chocolate madness for ultimate satisfaction. Your face covered with chocolate and you are licking your fingers in the inappropriate lacking-manners way but who cares? It is worth it!

Some will quail at the idea of making one. I get that. But you won’t be sorry if you still cook it.  Not in the middle of Lent. Go for it.

An avocado chocolate cake is going to become your best friend during all Lenten celebrations that require a fabulous dessert and it also visits you when you just feel like you need some sugar (in a healthy form).

What made me look for a Lenten Chocolate Cake…

Birthday during Lent? No cake ever? Please raise your hands who is in this camp! A very special member of my family has Birthday in June and in the majority of cases, it falls on Peter and Paul Lenten season. This year is not an exception and this post is for those who always felt sad being cut off from the cake ceremony, as it’s not easy to make the cake without the base ingredients such as eggs and dairy products. However, the motto of Lentenchef is “We will find a way, if not we will make one”.

With that optimistic spirit, I searched through thousands of recipes already trying to find a decent Lenten alternative for tasty Birthday cake. Not just fruits, not just cookies, not just muffins — A REAL CHOCOLATE LENTEN CAKE for those who celebrate their Birthday during Lent season. Make a day ahead, keep the sponge and mousse in a fridge separately and cover the cake with the frosting before serving.

After eating this incredible meal, you will become a pinch happier, I promise!

Bon Appétit!
